New executive director chosen to head Pasco Education Foundation
The Pasco County Education Foundation has named a new executive director eight months after Chip Wichmanowski resigned.
Tom Avramis ran Advanced Education Services, a California education non-profit serving youth in residential treatment, from 1991 to 2010 before becoming interim president of a residential facility in Colorado. He also has been a consultant to non-profit organizations, as well as a priest in the Greek Orthodox Diocese of San Francisco. He has master's degrees in divinity and counseling psychology.
He was selected after a lengthy search to head the Pasco Education Foundation. He is slated to begin on June 3. Larry Starnes had been serving as interim leader until mid-April, as the search began to focus on a handful of finalists.
"We are very, very excited and very fortunate to have Tom as our executive director," foundation board president Donna Prentice said. "His level of experience will be phenomenal for the organization."
“It is with a great deal of enthusiasm that I join the wonderful Pasco Education Foundation family,” Avramis said in a news release. “I am impressed with the exceptional mission of the Foundation and look forward to being a part of this team of dedicated community leaders in service to the students and educators of Pasco County.”
