For starters: Rays at Red Sox, needing a win and facing Chris Sale
UPDATE, 5:58: The Rays got good news on OF Steven Souza Jr., as an X-ray and MRI of his left knee showed only a bone bruise and some soft tissue damage. Though Souza said he was "still pretty sore,'' Cash said he is day to day and they would talk tomorrow morning about his availablity. ... RHP Alex Cobb said he is good to go for Sunday, that the small blister/cut on a finger had healed and he was fine.

DEVELOPING: Needing a win to keep from losing more ground in the AL wild-card race, the Rays face a tough task tonight in taking on Red Sox ace LHP Chris Sale.
Further, they will be without one of their top right-handed hitters, as RF Steven Souza Jr., as expected, is out of the lineup due to a bruised left knee sustained in Friday's game.
The Rays beat Sale in July at the Trop, but he is 3-1, 2.48 in four starts against them this season, with 12-plus Ks in each, 7-5, 3.32 overall with 126 Ks in 84 innings.
The Rays are starting RHP Matt Andriese, who is looking to pitch deeper and better than he did in Sunday's return from a two-plus month DL stint when he allowed five runs in five innings.
The Rays go into the day 70-72, and 4 1/2 games - and seven teams - out of the second wild, currently held by the Twins, who are 74-67.
