Master class with the incredible Broadway Rock tenor Danny Zolli.

In a collaboration between the New Tampa Players and the University Area Community Development Center, Broadway star Danny Zolli will conduct a Master Class from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (March 11) at the University Area Community Development Center, 14013 N. 22nd St.

Tickets are $100 and are available at www.newtampaplayers.org.

Zolli is a world-renowned rock tenor who has shared the stage with the Three Tenors' opera legend Jose' Carreras, The Gypsy Kings, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legends Peter Frampton, Phoebe Snow, Felix Cavaliere (The Rascals), Leslie West (Mountain), Zak Starkey (son of Ringo Starr) and pop and rock singer Sir Cliff Richard. Zolli has also starred in 27 national and international productions of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar.

During this hands-on master class, participants will learn best practices for audition preparation and etiquette, as well as successful strategies for character development, scene study and performing technique.

Zolli's advice should come in handy as the New Tampa Players will premier its version of Jesus Christ Superstar at 8 p.m. on March 31 at the University Area Community Development Center, followed by an opening night reception.

Subsequent performances will take place at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on April 1 and April 8 and at 2 p.m. on April 2 and April 9 at the center. A talkback will be held after the April 8 performance.

Brian Beach (Jesus), Cody Carlson (Judas) and Chelsie Smith (Mary Magdalene) headline the cast. The stage production is directed by G. Frank Meekins.

The players will partner with Metropolitan Ministries to help fill their food pantry. At any performance of Jesus Christ Superstar, those who donate a box of cereal will receive $1 off admission.

Admission is $25 for adults, $23 for students and seniors and $20 for groups of 10 or more.
