Sheriff's Office: 13-year-old boy on tricycle struck, killed by car in Ruskin

RUSKIN — A 13-year-old boy was struck and killed by a car Saturday night while he was riding a tricycle.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Messiah Hector, of Ruskin, was riding a black and green tricycle on 21st Street SE north of Third Avenue SE.

About 8:40 p.m., 39-year-old Keith Silva, driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am north on 21st Street SE, didn't see Messiah in the darkness, the Sheriff's Office said. The Pontiac hit Messiah, who wasn't wearing a helmet.

Messiah was pronounced dead at the scene.
